I say that the first true friend of all the Muslims living upon the face of the earth is the British government. I have never spoken a single word without proof and evidence, and—God willing—I never shall. And so, for the words I have just spoken, I wish to provide proof as well; and my proofs are of two kinds.
The first kind consists of worldly proofs.
The second kind consists of otherworldly proofs.
The worldly proofs are as follows: the British government is forever striving to keep the Muslims’ ears at peace, so that no trouble or vexation should touch them from any quarter. To this end, the British government—always and everywhere—takes the peoples of Islam under its protection, lest any disaster or calamity should come near them; it has taken Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt, and other such sacred lands into its hands and guards them, so that—heaven forbid—no other tyrannical people should come and visit cruelty and suffering upon these worldly paradises. It is for precisely this reason that the British government intends to take back the independence it granted Egypt in 1922. And for this same reason it is seizing Mosul from Turkey, so that no one else, on account of that troublesome oil, should mount an attack and give Turkey a headache. Likewise with Iran, India, Iraq, and the rest.
So much for the worldly proofs.
Let us turn now to matters of the afterlife. The British government, looking on from afar, sees that the Turkish government—its sincere friend—has lifted the caliphate clean out of the way and flung it aside altogether. When that happens, what comes next could turn out badly; because today you say “I have no need of a caliph,” and after that anything at all may come out of you; glancing at your neighbors to the north, you will say—may my tongue wither!—yes, you will say “I have no need of God either.” And then tell me: can one really live without God? Of course one cannot (?!). And so, once again for this reason, at Britain’s instigation the Egyptians, the Iraqis, and the Indians wish to install and appoint a caliph for the Muslims in the city of Cairo—so that perhaps in this way the Muslims may be spared the sin of denying the caliph, and so that they may not appear before God Almighty disgraced.
If this isn’t friendship, what is?

Bunun üçün də İngiltərə höküməti həmişə və hər bir yanda islam tayfalarını himayə etməkdədir ki, bir yandan bunlara bir afət və bəla yavıq düşməsin; İranı, Əfqanı, Misri və sair bunlar kimi müqəddəs məmləkətləri əlinə keçirib qorumaqdadır ki, məbadə-məbadə başqa mərdümazar bir tayfa gəlib bu behiştliklərə cövrü cəfa yetirsin. Məhz bu səbəbədir ki, İngiltərə höküməti 1922-ci ildə Misrdə verdiyi istiqlaliyyəti geri almaq fikrindədir. Və buna görə Türkiyədən də Mosulu tutub alır ki, bu başı bəlalı neftin səbəbinə qeyri bir adam hücum çəkib Türkiyənin başını ağrıtmasın. Həmçinin İran, Hindistan, İraq və qeyriləri.
Bu, dünya sübutları.
Keçək axirət işlərinə. İngiltərə höküməti uzaqdan baxıb görür ki, onun səmimi dostu olan Türkiyə höküməti xilafəti aralıqdan bilmərrə götürüb çölə tulladı. Belə olanda bunun dalısı da pis ola bilər; çünki bu gün deyərsən mənə xəlifə lazım deyil və ondan sonra səndən hər nə desən çıxar; şimaldakı qonşularına baxıb deyərsən ki, dilim qurusun, hə, deyərsən ki, allah da lazım deyil. Onda bəs bir de görüm allahsız da yaşamaq olarmı? Əlbəttə olmaz (?!) Yenə buna görə də İngiltərənin təhriki ilə misirlilər, iraqlılar, hindlilər Qahirə şəhərində müsəlmanlara xəlifə nəsb və təyin etmək istəyirlər ki, bəlkə beləliklə müsəlmanlar xəlifəni inkar etmək kimi məsiyyətdən xilas olub allah-taala yanına üzü qara getməsinlər.
Bunlar hamısı dostluq deyil, bəs nədir?
